Mount Discovery is a mountain of considerable prominence that may be found on Ross Island in Antarctica. It is a member of the McMurdo Volcanic Group and sits at an elevation of 2,731 meters (8,963 feet). The mountain was given its name in honor of the ship HMS Discovery, which served in the British Royal Navy from 1901 until 1904 and was stationed in the Ross Sea region.
McMurdo Station, the largest research station in Antarctica, is situated on the southernmost tip of Ross Island, and Mount Discovery is plainly seen from there.
